Liquid

pxliquid.jpg (68176 bytes)

Again, no alpha channel masks or floating objects.  Only a silhouette mask on a white RGB image is required.  The intial mask disappears when the script finishes at which point there are 6 specialized masks in the alpha channel.  These masks are used to offer a flexible construction kit to the user for building a wet liquid effect for text or silhouette forms.
  • shape - the original silhouette mask
  • dismap - paint with black for a useful displacement map
  • darkmask - used to establish the shadowy parts of the "liquid" shapes
  • litemask - used to establish the light parts of the "liquid" shapes
  • highlight - accents the specular highlights
  • line - an accent line for edges

This is how the above image was produced:  Load the "dismap" mask and fill with black.  Save the result to disk.  Fill the image with a wood bitmap fill, load the "shape" mask, invert it and brighten with the BCI filter set at B=12, else=0; remove mask.  Effects/Distort/Displace, load the displacement map you saved earlier and set the v & h sliders to about 31, OK.  Load the "darkmask", Ctrl-B, set B=-15, else=0.  Load the light mask and fill with 50% transparent white.  Load "highlight" mask and fill with 40% transparent white.  Load "shape" mask, Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen, set edge level = 18, threshold = 2, OK.  Load "line" mask, Ctrl-B, B=-10, else=0, OK, remove mask.  DONE.
